New publication on muscle synergies in complex movements

Muscle synergy analyses are used to enhance our understanding of how the central nervous system controls movement. In the new paper by Paul Kaufmann, Lorenz Zweier, Arnold Baca and Hans Kainz, the motor control of three skateboard tricks was investigated as representatives of highly complex human movements. The results showed that some, but not all, muscle synergies were similar between the tricks and revealed high inter-participant variability in the control mechanisms of trick execution. The paper was recently published in Scientific Reports and is open access: Muscle synergies are shared across fundamental subtasks in complex movements of skateboarding
