Talk by Ass-Prof Hans Kainz at the ‘Human reproduction and evolution’ symposium

Last week the scientific symposium ‘Human reproduction and evolution: Perspectives from developmental biology, obstetrics, orthopedics and biomechanics’ took place at the Department of Evolutionary Biology of the University of Vienna. International experts from different fields joint the symposium, gave talks and discussed multi-disciplinary aspects of the so-called ‘obstetrical dilemma’

Dr Kainz was invited to give a talk at the symposium. Together with Clara Egner (member of the Neuromechanics Research Group), he showed how predictive musculoskeletal simulations can be used to evaluate if wider hips require a higher cost of transport. Additionally to the talks and fruitful discussions, a behind the scene tour at the national history museum was organized.
