Biography

Leon Lobe is a Master’s student in sport science at the Department of Biomechanics, Kinesiology and Computer Science in Sport at the University of Vienna, where he is completing his degree with a focus on biomechanics, musculoskeletal simulations, and motion capture. He is passionate about understanding how the human body moves and how injuries occur in sport.

His current research looks at hamstring muscle strain during accelerated sprints following repeated sprints, with the goal of better understanding injury mechanisms and improving athletic performance. He is particularly drawn to combining musculoskeletal simulations with experimental data to answer real-world questions in sport and movement science.

Leon works with tools including OpenSim, CEINMS, Vicon Nexus, and 3D Slicer, and uses Python to support his research. Outside of research, he hosts a journal club and organizes the National Biomechanics Day event at the University of Vienna.
