FWF project ‚Does bipedal locomotion create an obstetrical dilemma in humans?‘
The FWF research proposal from Dr Ekaterina Stansfield from the Department of Evolutionary Biology got approved for funding. Within this project, she will investigate why feto-pelvic disproportion exist in humans.
Ass-Prof Hans Kainz is a research partner in this project. Amongst others, we will collect motion capture data in our laboratory, develop adjustable female and male musculoskeletal models, and compare joint contact forces between participants with different morphometric properties. The project will improve our understanding of the sex-specific interactions between pelvic dimensions and the biomechanics of locomotion.
